Description
The full kit consists of
- A FORGED piston 86mm
- Fitting ring set
- A honed cylinder (paired with this individual piston)
- A full gasket set
The gasket set includes one foot gasket, one metal head gasket and one exhaust gasket (copper ring).
With the concurrent use of a free flow exhaust and air filter as well as a well tuned ECU up to 31 RWHP have been reached with this set alone. With an additional performance camshaft (HT-b cam) the output rose to almost 34 RWHP which is equivalent to about 38 HP as Royal Enfield measures it (BHP – measured at the crank).
We do not have a dyno chart for this setup but our own acceleration tests show under 8 seconds to 100kmh with a 75KG rider.
Unlike the 477 set which will fit into the engine as-is this liner requires widening the engine block by 4mm (take 2mm off all around so the diameter is 4mm larger) to make it fit.
The widening of the engine body can be done very carefully with a dremel and oil soaked cloth stuffed inside the engine to catch metal pieces coming off. Run the engine with a magnetic oil plug to catch small stuff that may have slipped by. Use cheap oil and change after 50km driving – then again after 500km before switching to full synthetic.
This Dyno was done with a BS4, the HT-b cam, de-cat pipe and open air filter. The TB was polished and the head volume widened to 86mm.
There is a YouTube video from one of our customers who tested this setup:
We have produced a “how to” video available on YouTube which shows the entire procedure how to change the piston/cylinder combo.
Please read the FAQ dedicated to the 477 engine upgrade.
